Joseph Fisher

Joseph Fisher is a paralegal at Deiss Law who works with the firm’s attorneys on complex civil litigation in state and federal court. His work focuses on turning difficult factual and legal problems into clear, usable analysis. He contributes to case and motion strategy, legal research and writing, discovery, expert development, and trial preparation. Much of that work begins with identifying the issues that matter and developing arguments and procedural options for the litigation team.

Over more than four years at Deiss Law, Joseph has worked on matters at every stage of litigation. He frequently conducts the initial research and prepares drafts of substantive briefs and other filings for attorney review, including complex complaints, motions to dismiss, summary-judgment briefing, emergency injunctive relief, and appellate briefs. He has helped develop claims and defenses, structure discovery around anticipated dispositive motions, and work with attorneys and expert witnesses in technically demanding cases. Joseph has also supported jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, mediations, and evidentiary hearings, with responsibilities including witness preparation, drafting examination outlines, jury-selection preparation, proposed jury instructions and verdict forms, and materials for opening and closing arguments.

Joseph earned an M.A. in English from Brigham Young University, where he studied rhetoric, and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Utah. That background complements his work: rigorous analysis, careful attention to persuasion, and a persistent focus on the “therefore”—not merely what the facts and law say, but what follows from them.
